INTERACTION: Abhinav Bindra terms Delhi gang rape incident as “unfortunate”.

Ludhiana, December 26, 2012: Olympic Gold Medallist shooter Abhinav Bindra has categorically said that shooting could not be said at par with cricket and football.

Interacting with the students of a local school and media persons today, he added the shooting game was getting promotion as more people were coming to join it across the country.

He asserted that there was a need to associate the sports with social activities like in Western countries. He told that in India families preferred to go to watch cinema whereas in Western countries families preferred to watch sports events.

Asked about political interference in the sports in the country, he told that there was nothing wrong if there was a political interference for promotion of sports activities.

Replying to a question, he told that one should not let stress overpower one. He opined that the best way to overcome the stress element was to always remain focussed towards targets.

On being asked, he termed the Delhi gang rape incident as “unfortunate”.

 He inaugurated a shooting range in a local school.
