Jalandhar: Ivy World School, Jalandhar, hosted the ‘English Poem Recitation Competition’ at K.K Auditorium. Forty schools participated under two categories, category 1 for grades 3-5, who recited on ‘Save Environment’ and category 2 for grades 6-8, whose recitation topic was ‘Swatch Bharat’. Mrs.RashmiVij (Principal-Police DAV) and Mr.Imraan Khan (President- Press club of Jalandhar)magnanimously graced the occasion by being the guest of honour.
The event was judged by Dr.Ramnita Saini Sharda (Associate Professor, Dept of English and Dean Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar), Mr.Inderjit Singh Paintal (Eminent writer, Author, Engineer, Radio Host and Screen Writer, who has written a collection of short stories ‘Pilgrims of Sorrow’) and Mrs.Ritu Mahal (MBA HR who has is actively involved in preparing and conducting training programmes for Army Families).
The audience witnessed the close neck competition between the participants who used eloquent unfettered rhymes to express their views on the topics which are the much discussed issues by the global leaders today. There were quite a few self composed poems which proved the sensitivity of our future generation towards the issues. Their participation was par excellent and performance beyond judgment. The winners of 1st Category (Grade-3 to Grade-5) are – 1st Banveen Kaur (Cambridge International School, Choti Bradari), 2nd Shreya (Swami Sant Das Public School, Jalandhar), 3rd Simran Kaur (Shri Hanumat International School, Dasua). 2nd Category (Grade-6 to Grade-8)winners are - 1st Jessica Mehta (Innocent Hearts School), 2nd Preeti Bhagat (Cambridge International school Girls), 3rd Sunaina (CJS Public School). Rachit Jain (CJS Public School)and Mokshika Malhotra (MGN School) got special certificate.However it was a competition so the winners of the overall trophy announced were Cambridge International School Girls, Jalandhar.
The event was organized impeccably and aligned towards the motto of teaching and learning. Give wings to the students to fly in the sky of knowledge with innovation as the key. It ended on a positive learning note as the judges discussed their impressions with an eager audience.
