Inter-college cricket tournament begins at PAU

Ludhiana, September 20, 2012: An “Inter-college cricket tournament,” for the session 2012-13, began today at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).

Four teams including College of Agriculture (COA), College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (COBS&H), College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAE&T) and Institute of Agriculture, Gurdaspur are participating in the tournament, which will culminate on September 26. In the first match played today, the COA defeated COBS&H by 79 runs. 

Giving details of the result, Dr Ramandeep Singh, Deputy Director (Sports), informed that COA won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 175 runs in 35 overs whereas COBS&H were all out on 96 runs. Harjit Singh of COA scored 60 runs, Rupinderjit Singh 42 runs and Gurvinder Singh 18 runs. Gunsagar Singh of COBS&H took five wickets for 44 runs while Hitesh and Ankit took one wicket each for 27 and 31 runs, respectively. Gunsagar Singh scored 20 runs whereas Anmol of COBS&H scored 17 runs. Jatinder Singh, Simranjit Singh and Harjit Singh took two wickets each for 13, 14 and 27 runs, respectively. Gurvinder Singh and Varinder Singh took one wicket each for eight and five runs, respectively.
