Students at Institute of Apparel Management, Gurgaon celebrates Van Mahotsav by planting saplings.

Gurgaon, August 3, 2015: Institute of Apparel Management, Gurgaon recently celebrated Van Mahotsav at its campus. The students and faculty members planted saplings, watered them and also took a pledge of planting more trees and taking care of them.

The aim of celebrating Van Mahotsav was to sensitise students and faculty members about their responsibilities towards the environment and society. The faculties made students aware of the importance of tree plantation and how they are the 'Lifelines'. Students were taught:

• Plants clean the contaminated air in the environment.
• The plant roots bind the soil which prevents erosion.
• If planting is carried out in an order it enhances beauty of an area.
• Various parts of plant have medicinal value.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Somesh Singh, Director, IAM said “To make our environment balanced, the best way is to plant trees. It is the moral duty of every individual to plant & protect trees.  Students should understand the importance of tree plantation and the students must be connected with sapling plantation and awareness programmes, which would encourage others to realise their social and moral duty towards environment”.

“Van Mahotsav is very important to protect the diminishing forest cover in India. It should be carried out by everyone in order to increase greenery in India,” said Shaurya, Student of IAM.
