Industry-Academia Symposium on Medical Devices

Chandigarh, February 9, 2018: In the backdrop of Government of India’s impetus to promote industry-academia collaborative research for generation of innovative products for economic and societal benefits to the nation, DST-Centre for Policy Research, at Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH),
Chandigarh is organizing the 4th Symposium of Medical Device Innovation Cluster (MDIC, Chandigarh Region), at IMTECH on February 10, 2018.
The academia will be represented by the scientists of various CRIKC (Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster) institutes including, PGIMER-Chandigarh, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)-Chandigarh, IIT-Ropar, Panjab University-Chandigarh, Punjab Engineering College (PEC)-Chandigarh, Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST)-Mohali, CSIR-Council for Scientific and Industrial Organization (CSIO)-Chandigarh, CSIR-IMTECH-Chandigarh and Semi-Conductor Laboratories (SCL)-Mohali.
The symposium will be inaugurated by Prof. Arun K. Grover Vice-chancellor, PU, Chandigarh.The highlight of the Meeting will be the display of ‘Innovative Technologies’ developed by the academia and the industry. The ‘Key-Note Address’ will
be delivered by Dr Jitender Sharma, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Medical Tech Zone (AMTZ), Vishakhapatnam and Exec. Director, Kalam Institute of Health Technology (KIHT) Vishakhapatnam. The Symposium also has a dedicated interactive session on ‘Promoting Innovations in Medical Technologies’ in which senior officials of Ministry of Science and Technology (GoI), Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AIMED), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII, northern region) along with senior scientists of
CRIKC institutes will be participating, and the recommendations submitted to GoI.
More than twenty industries from northern India have confirmed their participation.
