Seek better civil amenities and voter I-cards

Ludhiana, October 15, 2012: Significant number of male and female industrial workers and their family members from Rajiv Gandhi Colony in the local Focal Point (phase IV) staged massive protest outside DC office here.

Protestors sat on dharna and  shouted slogans.

Protest was staged under the banner of Karkhana Mazdoor Union, Ludhiana.

Addressing the protestors, the Union’s convener, Lakhwinder Singh said the basic civic amenities in the locality concerned were in pathetic condition. As a result, the residents were living in hell like situation. He said the locality residents were also being harassed when they visited the concerned office for getting their voter I-cards prepared. He regretted that people were being denied of their fundamental of getting voter I-cards prepared.

A memorandum was submitted to deputy commissioner. It was signed by about 4,500 people.
