Industrial Visit to SML ISUZU

Ludhiana, July 13, 2018: The induction programme held at University Business School, PURC, Ludhiana for its new batch of MBA students concluded with an industrial visit to SML ISUZU plant at Asron, Punjab. SML ISUZU LIMITED was incorporated in July 1983 as Swaraj Vehicles Limited to manufacture Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) in the state of Punjab. It was the result of Government of India initiatives for installing the LCV unit in order to save the fuel consumption in the economy.

Dr. Ashish Saihjpal, Coordinator said, “The purpose of the visit was to well-acquaint the students with the real working environment and functioning of the industry for their holistic development”. The students were apprised of best management practices adopted at SML-ISUZU such as 5s (SEIRI, SEITON, SEISO, SEIKETSU, SHITSUKE), Kaizen, 2 Bin inventory control system, Poke Yoke, Ergonomics for enhancing the overall production at the plant. Mr. Arun Batra, CGM (Technology) and his team arranged the visits to both the engine and chassis plants (Buses & Trucks) for the students in groups. The group was accompanied by Dr. Saihjpal and Prof. Taranjeet Singh.
