Industrial production shoots up to Rs.1, 93 lakh crore: Mittal

Chandigarh, June 18, 2014: The industrial production in Punjab shot up to record Rs. 1 lakh 93 thousand Crore in the financial year 2013-2014, registering unprecedented increase of Rs.1500 Crore against previous financial year.

Madan Mohan Mittal, Industry and Commerce Minister, Punjab  today said that small scale industrial units have produced the goods worth Rs. 68 thousand   crore, against  Rs. 62971 crore of previous year. On the other hand large/medium scale industrial units have witnessed giant leap by producing goods worth of Rs.1 lakh 25 thousand in the 2013-14, which were only 77556.91 crore during last year registering a whopping increase of 47443.09 crore in a single year.

 Giving the full credit to the hardworking of industrialists and business friendly policies of SAD-BJP Government, the Minister said that the improvement in the electricity supply to the Industrial Units has also made a big difference in this regard.    

It may be mentioned here that small and large/medium industry have done a great job in production of  sports goods, handicraft, machine tools, auto tools, engineering and electronics products, drugs, eatable goods, clothes, and spare parts. Presently more than 160460 industrial units including small, large/medium scale units were operating in the state and providing employment to more than 13 lakh 90 thousand people.
