Indo-Pak International Trade Expo, IPEX, 2013 opened to a colossal response from residents of Jalandhar on Thursday morning at Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Memorial Hall, Jalandhar.

Jalandhar, March 7, 2013: The five day event, Indo-Pak International Trade Expo, IPEX, 2013 opened to a colossal response from residents of Jalandhar this morning at Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Memorial Hall, Jalandhar, informed Sukhdev Raj, Senior member, managing committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

IPEX is being organised by the industry body PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry from March 7-11.

Sunil Jyoti, Mayor, Jalandhar formally inaugurated the 5-day event. Later, he took a round of the exhibition where he appreciated the quality of exhibits. Calling upon the masses to visit and experience this exhibition, he said, it is a unique endeavor of PHD Chamber, adding that only such efforts as this, go a long way in promoting not only business to business but people to people connect also.

Dalip Sharma, Regional Director, PHD Chamber said, the footfall is increasing with the passage of time. The visitors, he said, seem visibly happy with the Pakistani stalls and food court.

“Recent back to back cross border visits of delegates of commerce and industry from both the countries have definitely given a boost to the bilateral trade”, said Sharma, stating that as per Indian High Commission in Islamabad, the trade has grown to a whopping 66 percent in the last year.

“The response to the earlier expos has been tremendous, which encourages us to visit and exhibit in India year over year”, echoed exhibitors from Pakistan.

“Such events go a long way in removing the coloured inhibitions among the masses in general and the business community in particular. Such events need to be held more frequently, said Anila Iftekhar, visiting founder president, South Punjab Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan.
