Chandigarh, November 19, 2016: Indian Chemical Society (ICS) would honour Panjab University (PU) alumnus and noted scientist Prof Kuldip Singh Dhindsa with the Lifetime Achievement Award of the society for the year 2016 at Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) on December 27.
The Indian Chemical Society is a premier Scientific Society of India and was founded in 1924 as the national forum for the community of chemists and members of allied disciplines in the country. Dr Dhindsa is being felicitated in recognition of
his contribution in the field of chemical sciences.
In his communication to Dr Dhindsa, the convener of the 53rd Annual Convention of Chemists and ICS Honorary Secretary, Prof DC Mukherjee has informed that the award would be conferred on him at the inaugural session of the 53rd Annual
Convention of Chemists at the Department of Chemistry, GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Prof. Dhindsa has obtained his M.Sc. (Hons.) and Ph.D. degrees from PU under the guidance of former PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ram Chand Paul. Besides other awards, Prof. Dhindsa has earlier received Indian National Science Academy Award for
young scientists (1975), Fullbright Scholar (1990), Professor R.K. Bose Memorial Award of the ICS for outstanding research in the area of chemical sciences (1996).
He is also Fellow, Royal Society of Chemistry, London; Fellow, National Academy of Sciences, India; Fellow, American Institute of Chemists and Fellow, National Environmental Science Academy.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover has congratulated Prof Dhindsa for the prestigious award.
Earlier, Prof RC Paul and Prof SV Kessar were also selected for the award.
