Dharamshala, October 21, 2016: The ex-Union Minister and senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar said that Government of India (GoI) has given the green signal to lay a broad-gauge rail line from Pathankot to Leh as a defense rail link.
Speaking to media persons at Dharamshala on Friday, the BJP MP from Kangra constituency said, “This new rail link will touch Dharamshala and other areas, the survey of which has already begin.”
He said that the century old Pathankot- JoginderNagar narrow-gauge rail shall not be disturbed.
He added, “This new rail Link shall be constructed in a few to make uninterrupted defense moments unto the Leh. This rail line shall be laid down by the Indian Army according to their requirements, and can be used by civilians.”
He said that it is the necessity of India as the China has already created a big rail- road network around our Borders.
He said that it is only Modi government, which thought on these directions to help build up strong Indian Defense. Another rail link project from Bhanupali (Nangal) to Leh via Mandi has already been cleared by the Modi government.
