Chandigarh, May 13, 2015: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, while presiding over the meeting of Board of Governors of Punjab Public School, Nabha here today, reviewed the activities, achievements and future programmes of the school.

Prof Solanki strongly advocated the need for focused attention on quality and high standard education by reshaping the roadmap of academic curriculum to realize the goal of knowledge to encourage youth to achieve academic brilliance. He said the teachers should be role models and the institutions should continuously learn, improve and upgrade their knowledge, to face the emerging challenges of globalization.

Appreciating the role of Head Master and faculty for imparting relevant and required education on modern lines, Prof Solanki said the future of the country is sitting in the class rooms.

Reminding the institution of the social aims of education, the Governor said that we must utilize all resources available at our disposal to explore and develop the potential of our students by stretching their abilities through innovative programmes. We have a responsibility to ensure that our youth receives a proper education. It is very important to focus on character building and to inculcate amongst the youth, the values of compassion, harmonious living and respect for elders. Our educational institutions, therefore, should be the place where students learn and practice, discipline, tolerance and balanced reasoning, he added.

Earlier, Dr. Jagmeet Singh, Headmaster of the School apprised the Governor regarding the working of school activities.

Prominent amongst others Board of Directors who were present on the occasion included M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, C Roul Principal Secretary School Education, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor Punjabi University, Kanwar Sandhu and Lt. Gen. (Retd.) T.K. Sapru.
