Ludhiana, August 19, 2016: The long wait of residents of Sunder Nagar fulfilled on Friday after the inauguration of new bridge on Buddha Nullah in the area on Friday. The residents had been demanding for this bridge as existing bridge had gone weak and moreover traffic remained choked on that bridge.
Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria inaugurated the bridge on Friday where along with area municipal councillor Sumit Malhotra the area residents and party workers also participated.
Gohalwaria told that it would be a great relief for the commuters and area residents after the opening of new bridge. He further told that bridge was constructed at the cost of Rs 1.50 crores.
Meanwhile, the area municipal councillor Sumit Malhotra thanked the Mayor for inauguration of the bridge and said that it would benefit the residents of Sunder Nagar, Bajwa Nagar and other adjoining areas.
The area residents also thanked the Mayor for opening of this bridge as after laying its foundation stone in 2010 the construction was started in 2014 and even then it took almost two years to completion of the project. They hoped that now they would not get stuck in the traffic jam while crossing the bridge.
