ILLEGAL MINING: 8 persons arrested at four places

Feroepur, November 2, 2012: On Thursday, in another two cases, 8 persons have now been arrested for illegal mining of sand in Lakho Ke Beham and Guruharsahai area, said Lakhbir Singh, S.P.(HQ) by laying the naka and during intensive patrolling by the police teams.

He further said that honouring the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court, the illegal mining of sand done secretly at late hours,  is being stopped by putting up ‘nakas’ and speed up of patrolling.

Despite ban, the process of illegal mining of sand in Ferozepur District is continuing and on November 1, eight persons were booked on this account at Makhu of Pir Mohammad Village. 

Lakhbir Sihgh, SP(HQ) said, a team headed by ASI Ashwani Kumar at Lakho Ke Behram police station, have arrested Inderjit Singh of Sadiq, Darshan Singh of Muktsar Sahib, Sukhwinder Singh and Kulwinder Sigh of Bhange Ke have been arrested with alongwith filled and empty three trolleys and a case  has been registered under section 379 IPC and Mining and Mineral Development and Regulation Act 1957.

He further informed, ASI Gurbagh Singh near village Sher Singh Wala have arrested Gurlal Singh along with trolley loaded with sand and in Guruahrsahai, a team under the supervision of ASI Ajaib Singh has arrested Surjit Singh, Gurbhej Singh and Jaj Singh alongwith Swaraj tractor-trolley duly loaded with sand.
