IKG-PTU employees postpone its strike till Aug 6, after assurance by VC

Jalandhar, July 27, 2015: After a long indefinite strike of I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University’s employees, led by Mulazim Front, theVice-Chancellor of the University IAS Rakesh Kumar Verma, Secretary Technical Education and Industrial Training has visited the campus today and assured the employees that he will take up the matter in next meeting of Board of Governors on August 7, 2015. After getting this assurance, the employees sitting on an indefinite strike decided to postpone the strike till August 6, 2015 and wait for the response from Government after the representation by VC is submitted.
 
President of Mulazim Front Kamlesh Kumar said, “In a 2-3 hour meeting with Vice-Chancellor today, the issue has been discussed. And after a deep discussion, VC has assured us that he will take this funds transfer agenda in the next meeting of Board of Governors which is scheduled to be held on August 7, 2015. VC said that in the BOG meet, it will be discussed whether more funds are needed or not and will share the current assets as well as liabilities report. Also, VC has assured us that he will submit a written representation to Punjab Government to review its decision of funds transfer, a copy of which would be submitted to us.”
 
After the assurance, the employees of IKG-PTU have decided to postpone the strike till August 6, 2015 and will wait for the response from the Government after the submission of representation. The work will be resumed from tomorrow in the campus.
