Jalandhar, September 21, 2015: IK Gujral Punjab Technical University organised "Inter College Cross Country Competition" at the sprawling Shahpur campus of CT Group of Institutions on Monday for the session 2015-16.
Large number of spectators witnessed dazzling display of sports wherein 7 boys and 5 girls teams belonging to different colleges affiliated under IK Gujral PTU including CT Institute of Engineering, Management & Technology (CTIEMT), CT Institute of Technology (CTIT), Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engineering & Technology (SUSCET) Tangori, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNE) Ludhiana, Doaba Business School (DBS) Kharar, Rayat Institute of Management (RIM) Rail Majra, Rayat Institute of Engineering & Technology (RIETT Phagwara participated with zeal and zest.
The competition was flagged off by Mr. S. S. Randhawa (Director Sports at IK Gujral PTU), Mr. Pankaj Vikas Thakur (Convener, Sports at CT Group of Institutions) and other dignitaries from CT Shahpur Campus. The competition was of 12.50 Kms as the route of the Competition started from CT Shahpur Campus to White Diamond and then ran back to the campus for finishing point.
SUSCET bagged 1st position in Cross Country Race with 59 points while CTIT and GNE Bagged second and third place in Institutions Category (Boys) with 81 and 87 points while in Girls, GNE with 18 points, SUSCET with 36 points and RIET with 49 points bagged the top three positions, respectively.
On the other hand, Sandeep Kaur and Sandhya of SUSCET won the first and second respectively, Mandeep Kaur of GNE won the third place in Individual category (Girls). Shubham Singh and Davinder Singh of CTIT bagged the first and second position while Bishamber of SUSCET won the third place in Individual Category (Boys).
Mr. S. S. Randhawa (Director Sports at IK Gujral PTU) stressed on the importance of sports activities in the individual’s life. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) thanked the IK Gujral PTU for choosing their campus for such a prestigious competition. He also appreciated the volunteers for joining hand with the institutions for this noble cause by motivating society towards sports. It has truly spread the message of the relevance of sports.
