IIMB Prof delivers lecture on Monetary Policy at PIM.

Jalandhar, August 4, 2014: Punjab Institute of Management, Kapurthala, the Main Campus of Punjab Technical University organised an Expert Talk on “Monetary Policy of India: Issues and Challenges” by Prof Charan Singh, Reserve Bank of India Chair Professor, IIM Bangalore.

The faculty, research scholars and students of the Main Campus of PTU attended the lecture.

Prof Singh threw light on the key macro-economic issues governing the challenges in the monetary policy. He detailed the audience about the conventional and unconventional methods to ensure price stability and economic growth. He said, “In order to promote overall development of the economy, one must understand the role of economic indicators such as level of exchange rate volatility, inflation, current account deficit etc.”

He further explained the concept of inflation targeting and financial inclusion and its implications in context of the Indian economy.

PTU Vice- Chancellor Dr. Rajneesh Arora said, ““Such meaningful talks are the need of the hour. Students should be aware of the national as well as global economy in order to be adept at handling the challenges they will be facing in the corporate world.”

PIM continually organises such talks from both the academia and industry from India as well as abroad.
