IIHMR-Bangalore holds its 7th Annual Convocation

Bangalore, May 28, 2018: The Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR),a premier Institution in healthcare management in India,organised its 7th convocation at its Bangalore campus.Twenty nine students from AICTE - Approved Post-Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Management (Batch 2016-18)graduatedin the ceremony.
Chief Guest, Dr. K Ravi Kumar, Senior Regional Director, Central Government Health Services, GoIand Dr S. Pruthvish, Rtd. Prof. -- HOD, MS Ramaiah Medical College & State Consultant, UNICEF, was the Guest of Honour at the convocation. Theyaddressed the convocation and awarded the degrees to the students along withDr. Suresh Krishna Rao, a senior public health specialist, Dr. S.D. Gupta, Trustee Secretary and Dr Usha Manjunath, Director-IIHMR Bangalore. Dr Monica Misra and Dr BusireddyGariShobitha were awarded the gold medal for their academic excellence in Health IT and Hospital Management specialization respectively.
Out of thirty-four students enrolled for the courses, 24 were successfully placed even before the completion of the course work in reputed hospitals, state government, health IT companies by the Institution with a highest package of INR 9.2 lakhs. Sapphire IMS, RamkrishnaHosptials, NHM Gujarat, BVG India Pvt Ltd. (MEMS), Telerad -- RxDx, Continental Hosptial, Gleneagles Health City, among others were the top recruiters. Four of the students of this batch are from Army (in-service candidates).
While welcoming the graduates in the healthcare family, Chief Guest Dr. K. Ravi Kumar said,“Thehealthcare sector in India has experienced tremendous growth, however, there are a lot of challenges that must be addressed.The healthcare sector is currently going through a paradigm shift further creating a galore of opportunities for healthcare managers.The healthcare industry is in need of trained management professionals and I believe IIHMR’s students have been given the best training and are well-equipped to assist the growing needs of the healthcare industry.”Dr K Ravi Kumar also pressed on the importance of hard work in one’s life and stated that “nothing can substitute hard work and one must keep on learning to enjoy success in life”. He also asked the students to repay their debt to the nation by indulging in themselves in public service.
Talking about the achievements of the institute, Dr Usha Manjunath, Director of IIHMR Bangalore, said, "Withits unique pedagogy,IIHMR encourages its students to think big which enables the growth of IIHMR and its role in various national and global health scenes. IIHMR has constantly tried to improve and has done its part in contributing to public health services.She further stressed upon the importance of NABH Accreditation for healthcare facilities.
