Ludhiana, May 18, 2015: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Patiala) of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has been conferred with “Best KVK ( Zone-I) Award 2013” by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for outstanding contributions in developing models of extension education and technology application.
Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU and Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education congratulated KVK Patiala for this achievement.
KVK Patiala has been guiding farmers of the region for the last 19 years and possesses all the infrastructural facilities including a well maintained technology park, instructional farm, soil and water testing lab, polyhouse and field demonstration unit required for efficient skill development of the farming community. The mandated as well as newly developed facilities like Kisan Mobile Advisory Service, Technology Park and crop cafeteria are fully functional in the service of the farmers. This KVK also added a NABARD supported sale outlet namely Rural Mart for its self-help group. Through trainings and demonstrations, KVK Patiala has been successful in improving the production and economic security of the farmers of the area.
