ICAR-CIPHET transfers innovative meat processing technology to the entrepreneurs

Ludhiana, January 12, 2017: The ICAR - Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (ICAR-CIPHET), Ludhiana, has transferred an innovative meat processing technology to the budding entrepreneurs, Mr Bhanu Partap Singh (Jalandhar). According to the inventor Dr Yogesh Kumar, this technology is related to the development of low-fat meat products which addresses the problem of obesity and obesity related problems in the meat loving consumers.
The development of low-fat meat products with desired quality attributes is an important step towards maintaining the health of at-risk population which have diet related issues, said Dr Yogesh Kumar, Scientist, ICAR-CIPHET.
Moreover, the higher cost in the business of processed meat products has to be brought down, and this can be achieved by careful selection of ingredients, reformulation with unconventional food ingredients and using indigenous equipment,” said Dr Ranjeet Singh, In-Charge, Technology Management Unit, ICAR-CIPHET.
A two days comprehensive hands on training on this technology including machine selection and operation was conducted by the inventor, Dr Yogesh Kumar, Scientist, ICAR-CIPHET. The process of transfer of technology was coordinated by Dr Ranjeet Singh, In-charge, Technology Management Unit, ICAR-CIPHET. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) and certificate of training was handed over to the entrepreneurs Mr. Bhanu Pratap Singh by Dr R K Gupta, Director, ICAR CIPHET.
