Jalandhar, March 27, 2016: After receiving the roaring response in first edition at Jalandhar and second edition at Ludhiana, CT Group of Institutions in association with AB’s The Body Temple came up with its much hyped and acknowledged event ‘Big Streets’ to celebrate the togetherness in the fresh air on this Sunday morning at Model Town streets. The scene was so thundering, when people came along to celebrate togetherness in the fresh air at Big Street event.
The event of its kind galvanized the people to participate in a shared vision of an active and healthy way of life. It was organized was an aim to inspire people to use the space in a holistic manner. It was all about opening streets to people, sharing resources, transforming communities. It was milestone crafted to galvanize the citizens to participate in a shared vision of an active, car-free lifestyle. The traffic was not allowed for three hours as residents will reform their roads as open-air dance studios, art hubs, gymnasiums and yoga institutes. There was Body Yoga, Body Aerobics, Body Zumba & Body Bakwa, Bhangra on Live Dhol, Tug of War, Open DJ, Badminton, Rope Skipping, Soccer, Karate and many more.
The Model Town streets from 6am to 9am onwards were cordoned off for the citizens. They used the streets for recreation that promotes health, wellbeing, fitness, togetherness and joy.
The Walk of Hope march from Kashmir to Kanyakumari also joined the Big Streets. They appreciated the initiative and raised the message of healthy and pollution free lifestyle.
Mr. Manbir Singh (Managing Director, CT Group of Institutions) said, “It has been learned that Pollution is increasing everyday in the city with the increasing number of vehicles. With this activity, we are trying to encourage and motivate people to ditch their car for short distances and manage to use public transport, bicycles or even try to walk as these can save environment and make them healthier.” He said, “This event in its previous editions has encouraged the citizens about the fact that cities are meant for people but not cars. This time as well, people really enjoyed this initiative which has buoyant us to organize such events in future as well.”
S. Charanjit Singh Channi(Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) exclaimed over achieving great success in its previous editions, “This event has also got the great response about the fact that cities are meant for people but not cars. People enjoyed this initiative. This is truly a commendable initiative that has won accolades and we are highly thankful to the people for coming in great numbers to support the cause,” he said.
