Dharamsala, August 19, 2015: The CM of Himachal, Vir Bhadra Singh recently said that his government has no objection for setting up of Cricket Academy in Himachal. He was reacting to BCCI’s Secretary , Anurag Thakur’s statement  that Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA)  is willing to set the BCCi’s national Cricket Academy/ Center of Excellence in Dharamsala if CM Himachal agrees to provide the necessary land for it.
The Secretary of HPCA, Vishal Marwaha  in a press statement on Wednesday said, “Our office bearers came in person to submit our representation with regard to the land availability request in CM office. However, no one was interested in receiving our representation as such I am mailing this to CM  with the hope that in the interest of sports He (CM) will take action at the earliest convenient.”
Marwaha sent the copy of the letter  to media by endorsing , “Please find attached the letter of request sent to the honourable chief minister for request to grant land for setting up the prestigious national cricket academy in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.”
He said that the national cricket academy if set up in Himachal would be a great boon for cricket and other related activities in the state and would surely put Dharamsala as the biggest cricketing destination in the country.
There is a cricketing tussle on in the past few years between CM HP Vir Bhadra Singh and President HPCA Anurag Thakur,   over the identity of land already allotted to HPCA for Stadium and residences in Dharamsala. Few cases are in the court too.
Even the Ex Union Minister Jai Ram  Ramesh had accused former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and his parliamentarian son and BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur of "abusing authority" by transferring 16 acres to HPCA to build a stadium in violation of law, thus causing loss of `100 crore to the state exchequer while reacting from  Delhi recently on the issue, “Where as Sanjay Sharma spoke person of HPCA said on the issue, “As far as the issue of converting from society to company is concerned, HPCA has not been made a private enterprise but a non-profit company under section 25 of the Companies Act. The Constitution allows a society to convert into a non-profit company.”
The Copy of the letter written to CM for providing land for national academy in Dharamsala is as under.
