Dharamshala, September 8, 2015: Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association HPCA have criticized the Congress lead Himachal government  for providing the security on payment during the coming India –South Africa T 20 Cricket match being organized by the HPCA at Dharamshala on 2nd Oct 2015.
Sanjay Sharma PRO HPCA told that it is surprising that CM Himachal Virbhadra Singh has said in press that the government will charge for the police security being provided during the said match. He said that the state government has earlier taken a policy decision to provide free security in those matches where India is one of the team, where as it will charge for the other matches including IPL matches.  Sharma said, “The present state government has intimated about the same policy in a written reply in a PLI in the Shimla high court too.”
He said that now the CM is speaking against it to spread sensation, just before the match to catch the public attention.  He said, “HPCA otherwise too, bears the boarding and lodging expanses of police during international matches at Dharamshala and beside also pay for their vehicles.”
Sanjay said that the HPCA has already written to DGP Himachal to provide the security cover during the 1st T20 match of the coming series being staged at HPCA stadium Dharamshala.
Dharamshala  stadium is home to Himachal Pradesh cricket team for Ranji Trophy matches and other limited overs matches. The stadium also hosted IPL matches as a home stadium for Kings XI Punjab.
The venue is unique in India in that it is situated at an altitude of 1,457 m (4,780 ft 2 in) above sea level and has the snow-capped Himalayan mountains in the background. Dav Whatmore, the former Director of the Indian National Cricket Academy recommended during his tenure that the stadium is suitable for hosting international cricket matches. The first international team that played here was the Pakistan cricket team, which played a match against an India A in 2005.
The first ODI was played between India and England in January 2013, which England won by 7 wickets. The second ODI was played between India and West Indies on 17th October 2014 in which India beat the West Indies by 59 runs. Now India will face South Africa on 2nd oct for a T20, where as the vanue is also selected to host T 20 World Cup  matches in 2016.
