Host Ludhiana lifts overall Trophy in Swami Vivekananda Punjab State Rural Games for Boys under -16

Ludhiana, November 11, 2013: Host Ludhiana lifted overall Trophy by pocketing 26 points, Amritsar won silver by 19 points where as Patiala got bronze with 17 points on the closing day of Swami Vivekananda Punjab State Rural Games for Boys under – 16.

Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Minister for Public Works Department (Building & Roads), Punjab was the chief guest and he  gave away prizes to the winners and declare the games closed. He also encouraged the participants towards sports and assured that Govt. of Punjab Department of sports is doing wonders for the upliftment of sports in the rural areas of the state.

Earlier, Sohan Lal Lotey, Deputy Director, Sports welcomed the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests present on the occasion. Rupinder Singh Assistant Director, Sports was also present. A cultural programme was also presented.   

Sri Mukatsar Sahib clinched gold in Kabaddi final match by defeating Amritsar by 5 points. Gurdaspur and Patiala were declared jointly third.

Host Ludhiana outplayed Patiala 62-47 in Basketball Finals and won the gold  where as Mukatsar Sahib defeated Sangrur 38-22 for the bronze.

Tarn Taran outclassed Sports City Jalandhar 4-0 for the gold where as Bathinda defeated Ferozepur 7-6 through penalty strokes for the bronze.

Gurdaspur clinched gold in Judo by getting 24 points, Ludhiana won silver with 17 points where as Jalandhar got bronze with 10 points in its account.

In Volleyball’s cliffhanger finals Ludhiana won gold by defeating Kapurthala 3-2, Jalandhar didn’t face any difficulty to defeat Bathinda with straight games 3-0.

Patiala won gold in Boxing with 22 points, Ludhiana and Amritsar were declared jointly silver and got 12 points each where as Tarn Taran got bronze with 10 points.

In Handball Amritsar bagged gold by defeating Mukatsar 25-24, whereas Ludhiana outplayed Ferozepur 25-22 for the bronze.

Ludhiana won gold in Kho-Kho by defeating Patiala 14-12 and Sangrur got bronze by defeating Ferozepur 6-5.

Amritsar bagged gold in Wrestling bye getting 20 points, Jalandhar won silver with 14 points and Gurdaspur got bronze with 11 points.

In weight Lifting Ludhiana lifted gold with 25 points, Sangrur won silver with 18 points and Jalandhar got bronze with 11 points.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar won gold in Football by defeating Amritsar 2-0 and Gurdaspur beat Mansa 2-0 by tie breaker for the bronze.

Patiala clinched overall in Athletics by 22 points, Gurdaspur won silver with 18 points and Sangrur got bronze with 17 points.
