New Delhi/Jalandhar, July 6, 2013: Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that the victory of Congress workers in the recently held elections to seven Municipal Corporations and two Municipal Committees has proved that people in the State are satisfied with the policies of the Congress and the government.

Hooda was replying to the questions of media persons at Chandigarh today after meeting the newly elected Mayors of Municipal Corporations and Presidents and Vice Presidents of two Municipal Committees that went to the polls recently.

Hooda said that out of a total of 144 seats of the Municipal Corporations of Yamunanagar, Ambala, Rohtak, Hisar, Panipat, Karnal and Panchkula that went to the polls, 25 of the seats were won by the candidates of BJP and only 16 by those of the INLD. All the remaining seats have been won by workers of the Congress party.

Hooda said that elections were held for seven Municipal Corporations and women Mayors have been elected for five Municipal Corporations. This, he said, reflected strengthening of the democratic system and the efforts being made for empowerment of women. He appreciated that people participated in these elections which were held in a peaceful manner. He said that all the elected Mayors have faith in the policies of the Congress and are its supporters.
