Ludhiana, October 26: Last year's finalists of this champion trophy, Punjab National Bank were drubbed by a big margin of 5-1 in the first semi final of men section of Perfect Real Estate All India Sahibzada Ajit Singh Hockey Champion Trophy 2012 played at Olympian Pirthipal Singh Hockey Stadium, here today.
In the first match of day six, Chandigarh XI defeated Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala by a margin of 2-0. First goal for Chandigarh eves was scored by Jasjeet Kaur when she converted a penalty corner into a goal in 45th minute of the match. The second goal for the team was scored by Navneet Kaur with the help of a field goal in 67th minute.
In the first semi final of men section and second match of the day, BPCL defeated Punjab National Bank by 5-1. It was Amir of BPCL who scored the first goal in 18th minute of the match, which was followed by Sher Singh of the same team in 21st minute of the match. It was Ravi Pal of BPCL who scored the third goal for his team when he converted a penalty corner into goal in 24th minute of the match. By the end of first half, BPCL was leading by 3-0.
PNB scored their first and only goal of the match in 42nd minute of the match when Hardeep Singh sounded the board with the help of a field goal. For BPCL, Gurpreet Singh scored two consecutive goals, in 46th minute and 52nd minute, taking the score to 5-1. The PNB team got several chances to score the goals, but they were unfortunate and could not score more than one goal. In the end, it was BPCL which paved its way into the finals of Perfect Real Estate All India Sahibzada Ajit Singh Hockey Champion Trophy 2012 which will be played at Olympian Pirthipal Singh Hockey Stadium tomorrow.
