Jalandhar, March 4, 2016: C.V Raman Science Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised a DBT sponsored workshop on Health Awareness and a poster competition on Latest trends in science on the occasion of National Science Day under the guidance of Principal Dr.Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj. An Essay writing competition was also conducted on the topic Your Contribution towards India of Kalam’s Dreams. The chief guest and the resource persons for the workshop were Dr.Amit Jain, Cardiologist and Interventionist, and Dr. Gaganjot Kaur, Gynaecologist from Panacea Hospital. Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed the guests with bouquet of flowers. Dr. Amit Jain discussed about the problem of rising heart diseases which are spreading at alarming rate in Indian and Asian countries mainly due to faulty life style. He said stress on eating healthy food, exercises and routine check ups. Dr. Gaganjot discussed common gynaecological problems faced by girls. She pointed out the basic social problems of sex discrimination and female foeticide. Dr. Neelam Sharma, Incharge of CV Raman Science Society told the background and achievements of society. Mrs. Renuka Bhatti, Incharge Science department gave the welcome speech. Poster were displayed and judges for this competition were Mrs. Kiranjit Kaur, Mrs. Meenakshi Syal, Mrs. Jyoti Kaul and Dr. Meena Sharma. Amrit Kaur and Meenakshi were declared first, Vishaldeep Kaur was declared second, Deepanjali and Deepanjali Gothwal declared third in poster making competition. Princy and Navjot Kaur were given the consolation prizes. On the other hand Kanika, Manisha, Nishitha and Deeksha were given first, second, third and consolation prizes respectively.
This workshop was specially beneficial for adolescent girls who asked questions regarding gynaecological problems which they were otherwise shy to ask. Further stress relieving strategies were suggested by Dr. Amit to students. Medication regarding heart burning and acidity were prescribed. Dr. Gaganjot prescribed harmonal replacement therapies to those who had problem of dysmonerhea.
The stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia. The workshop was arranged by Dr. Neelam Sharma and Dr. Seema Marwaha. On this occasion, all science faculty was present.
