HMV organised workshop on Advanced Techniques in Botanical Sciences

Jalandhar, November 18, 2014: Department of Botany of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised a workshop on Advanced Techniques in Botanical Sciences.  Dr.Sharda, Associate Prof in Biotechnology, Mata Vaishno Devi University Jammu was the resource person.  She alongwith her two research fellows demonstrated the working of various techniques employed now a days in research with plants or plant material.  Techniques employed for isolation and estimation of plant secondary metabolites, various techniques of plant tissue culture and polymerase chain reaction (PTC) were showcased to more than 60 students of UG and PG classes of Botany and Biotechnology Departments.  It was very learning and exciting experience for the students.  They got the opportunity to more closely see and learn about the techniques which were otherwise part of their theories. 

Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed the resource persons and congratulated the department for organizing such an informative, educating and interesting workshop for students.  She encouraged the students to think beyond the books and sharper in their practical skills as this is the need of hour.  Dr. Meena Sharma, HOD Botany encouraged the students to participate and learn in such future workshop.  Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dr. Shaveta Chauhan, Dr. Mani Sharma, Dr. Nitika Kapoor, Purnima, Ramandeep, Dr. Vidhushi Bajpai, Kanchan, Harpreet and Amneet were also present on this occasion.
