HMV gets status of College of Excellence by UGC

Jalandhar, January 10, 2015: The University Grants Commission, New Delhi has granted the status of ‘College of Excellence’ to Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. 

This was told by Principal Dr.Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj in a press meet.  She said that UGC has given the status of College of Excellence to HMV for a period of five years.  HMV is now the first college of North India to have this status.  HMV is the first college amongst the colleges of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, J&K, Bihar, Chandigarh and Delhi.  She also told that in the year 2005, HMV was granted the status of College with Potential for Excellence in the first phase.  In the second phase in 2010, this status remained the same.  In 2015, in the third phase, now the status of College of Excellence has been granted. 

Dean Academic & UGC Coordinator Meenakshi Syal said that a grant of Rs.2.00 Crores has also been given to the college.  This grant will be utilised for Labs Upgradation, Infrastructure, E-learning, Research Development, Library Automation and Teaching Aids.  On this occasion, all the Heads of departments and Non-Teaching staff members celebrated the moment and congratulated the Principal.
