Himachal News/Dalai Lama not going to South Africa for funeral of Nelson Mandela

Dharamsala, December 9, 2013: The Tibetan Religious  leader Dalai Lama, who is currently away from Dharamshala for winter sojourn has no plan to attend the funeral ceremony of  Nelson Mandela.
Confirming this on Monday at Dharamsala Tenzin Taklha, joint secretary at the Dalai Lama’s office said  that the Dalai Lama has no plan for it and he has also not applied for visa clearance too. He said that Dalai Lama has  wrote to the family of Mandela expressing his deep sadness at the anti-apartheid hero’s passing away.
“In his death the world has lost a great leader, whose steadfast and unflinching determination played a key role in securing peace and reconciliation during South Africa’s transition from apartheid rule. Under his leadership South Africa was transformed through peaceful means, in the spirit of reconciliation,” the Tibetan leader wrote.  Tibetan leader  said that he will personally miss the South African leader, who he had hoped to meet again and for whom he had great admiration and respect.
