Dharamsala, December 4, 2013: The Deaf Cricket Society is National level cricket competition 2nd T-20 National Cricket Championship for Deaf from December 5 to 8, at HPCA Ground Dharamsala, with the co-operation of HPCA. Teams from Delhi, Punjab Haryana, AP, West Bengal and Chandigarh will participate.
Sumit Jain, Secretary Deaf Cricket Society said in Dharamsala on Wednesday, “With the aim to promote cricket among deaf and mute young talented cricket players the Deaf Cricket Society came into existence. The Society is formed by young and energetic Deaf & Dumb members to promote Sports & Games for the Deaf including Cricket and organises Annual Cricket Championships in both states and Zones. The aim of this Championship is to nurture hidden talents and encourage the deaf and allow them to participate at international Level.”
Jain said that the society have successfully organised the 1st T-20 North Cricket Championship for Deaf in Delhi in which 6 teams took part. The event was an eye opener for many deaf players and this time more players and states have shown interest in competing at national-level.
He said, “This tournament is being promoted by SBI, Star Sports, SG Sports, OBC Bank, Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills and organised by Deaf Cricket Society with the help of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA).”
