Dharamshala, September 12, 2019: Urban Development, Housing and Town Planning Minister of Himachal, Sarveen Chaudhary said that the state government is constantly working hard to impart quality education to the students of the state.
“The state education budget has been increased significantly and in this financial year, a budget provision of Rs.7598 crore has been made for the education sector”, she added.
She was speaking today in the annual prize distribution function of Government Degree College, Shahpur near here.
She said that schools and colleges have been opened on a priority basis in remote areas of the state so that children get qualitative education at their door steps.
Minister Sarween Choudhary said, “Students of class XII require coaching for admission to JEE Main, NEET etc examinations and admission to other higher level educational institutions and various other competitive examinations. And, to achieve this objective, the State Government has launched "Medha Protsahan Yojana". Under this scheme children shall be provided assistance for coaching in the state or outside the state.”
The Urban Development Minister also inaugurated a girls' common room made up of Rs.10 lakh, a computer lab made up of Rs.12 lakh 68 thousand and a 20 kW grid connected solar power generation plant made up of Rs.9.94 lakh. Appreciating the solar plant she said, “it is the first solar power generation plant of its kind in any government college in the state and this solar panel will save about Rs.2 lakhs in electricity bill in a year of this college.” She said that a music room will be built above the girls' common room at cost of Rs.3.25 lakh, a girls hostel and administrative block of the college shall be constructed at Rs.90 lakh rupees of 25 lakh rupees, respectively. College Principal Aarti Verma welcomed the main date and read the annual report of the college.
During this time cultural programs were presented by the children. He honoured the winning participants of educational, sports and cultural activities.
The Urban Development Minister announced to give 25 thousand rupees to promote cultural activities.
