Himachal government committed to welfare of pensioners: Sarveen Chaudhary

Dharamshala: Urban Development, Housing and Town Planning Minister Ms Sarveen Chaudhary said that the state government is committed to the welfare of pensioners. Every effort will be made by the State Government to make the life of pensioners more smooth. Sarveen Chaudhary was speaking  on the occasion of All India Pensioners' Day held at Rait near Dharamshala.
The Urban Development Minister while addressing the gathering of the District Level Pensioners Welfare Association said, “Pensioners are part of the society and  government is  working  for their  overall development. They are being given due attention by the government.”
Sarveen said that on this day, on 17 December 1982, the Supreme Court Chief Justice YP Chandrachud had said in a historic decision that it is the right of any government employee to get pension on retirement, so that he can afford a respectable life for himself and his family. Therefore, this day is celebrated as Pension Day throughout India.
Sarveen Chaudhary said, “Himachal  government under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur is committed to the development and uplift of every section. The state government has decided to give social security pension to all those above the age of 70 years in the state and  government is giving pension to about 1.5 lakh people above the age of 70 years.  A pension of Rs. 150 has been ensured to those who do not have any source of income in this age group.”
The U D Minister assured the officials of the District Level Pensioners Welfare Association that demand letter, given by the association will be placed before the government for appropriate action.
Minister honoured 30 pensioners of 80 plus years of various departments with a mementos.
Association officials Prem Kumar Sharma, Suresh Thakur, Ashwani Shastri, Yograj Chaddha, Madan Lal Sharma, Sushil Sharma, former retired IAS KC Sharma, Kuldeep Chaudhary, Prabhat Chaudhary and many other dignitaries were present at this occasion.
