Shimla, January 6, 2018: To commemorate the 53rd birthday of Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur, a blood donation and a health check up camp was organized by Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) at the historic Ridge today. Besides, he also participated in a plantation drive organized by Municipal Corporation, Shimla at Annandale accompanied by Education Minister Shri Suresh Bhardwaj.

Many party workers and young brigade of BJYM donated blood on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that there was no bigger service to mankind than saving precious human lives by donating blood voluntarily. We should reaffirm our pledge to raise greater awareness about the importance of blood donation, he said.

As many as 50 saplings of Deodar were planted in over 500 square metre of area during the plantation drive. The girl trainees of Modern Nursing College Annadale welcomed the Chief Minister and actively took part in afforestation drive.

Later, the Chief Minister participated in cleanliness drive under ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ at Krishna Nagar ward of MC Shimla. He exhorted people to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi's vision of clean India. The ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ is a massive movement that seeks to create a Clean India. He said that under ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, Shimla was ranked 47th out of 434 cities during 2017 and this year we hope to do better. He said a sum of Rs. 32 lakh had been spent in Shimla for achieving the targets under this ‘Abhiyaan’.

Urban Development Minister Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, Mayor Smt. Kusum Sadret, Deputy Mayor Shri Rakesh Sharma, State President BJYM Shri Vishal Chauhan were also present on the occasion amongst others.
