HEROIN WORTH RS.25 CR. RECOVERED DURING JOINT SEARCH OPERATION

Ferozepur, January 7, 2019: The sleuths belonging to Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Punjab Police along with 136 Battalion of BSF have recovered five packets of heroin weighing 5 Kg worth Rs.25 Crores from an area near border out post (BOP) Barreke in this sector.
Narinder Pal Singh Sidhu, AIG (CI) said that the sleuths belonging to CI Wing had received inputs that two drug peddlers Kulbir Singh, resident of Village Bhamba Wali and Amrik Singh resident of Village Palla Megha are going to receive a consignment. He said that as per the information received, the accused were in touch with Pakistani smugglers Tariq, resident of Sialkot and Arif Dogra, resident of Village Ganda Singh Wala in Pakistan with the help of internet. “Later the information was shared with BSF personnel”, said AIG Narinder Pal Singh.
Today during the wee hours, the BSF jawans deputed near pillar 192/8, observed some suspicious movement of Pakistani smugglers. BSF officials said that when Pakistani smugglers reached near the fence and tried to carry out smuggling activity, the BSF troops challenged them and opened fire to stop their further misadventure. “However the Pakistani smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of dense fog and undulating ground”, said DIG BSF
Later, a joint special search operation was carried out by BSF troops belonging near BOP Barreke during which 5 packets of heroin weighing 5 Kg were recovered.
