HEROIN WORTH RS. 110 CRORE RECOVERED DURING JOINT OPERATION BY BSF

Ferozepur, November 18, 2017: In a joint operation carried out by the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Punjab Police and the troops of BSF, twenty two packets (Approx 22 Kg) of Heroin were recovered from Border Out Post Satpal near Village Gatti Rajo Ke in Ferozepur today. Giving details, Narinder Pal Singh Sidhu, AIG, CI Wing, Ferozepur, said that the sleuths belonging to CI wing had received information that Manjit Singh alias Munna, an Indian smuggler and a resident of Village Dhun Dhahewala, District Tarn Taran was going to receive a huge consignment of heroin and ammunition from across the fencing near pillar number 187/17 at BOP Satpal on 17-18th November midnight.
“Later we informed the senior officials from the BSF and the whole area was sealed. When the Pakistani smugglers were throwing the consignment inside Indian territory, the BSF troops challenged them. The BSF jawans retaliated and more than fifty rounds were fired. Later the Pakistani smugglers ran away but the police managed to nab three Indian smugglers who had come to receive the consignment. These smugglers have been identified as Gurdip Singh, Mahavir Singh alias Tota, Sukhbir Singh alias Soni while Mandeep Singh alias Manna managed to flee but his purse was recovered from the spot”, said AIG Narinderjit.
Later, during a special search operation done by the BSF jawans belonging to 105 Battalion, 22 packets of heroin, one pistol (.9 mm, Turkey made), one magazine, eleven round and one Pakistani SIM Card were recovered.
A case under sections 21/25/29/61/84 NDPS Act, 25/54/59 Arms Act and 66-D/66-IIT Act was lodged at Ferozepur Sadar police station (Case Number 335 dated 18.11.2017).
