Chandigarh, February 21, 2017: The Government of Punjab has launched a Public Health Facility Portal (pbhealthportal.in) for the citizens of Punjab to improve their access to quality health care services. This was stated here today by Ms.Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Punjab. She told that the portal is an innovative step by the state, with an idea to provide people, an apt platform to obtain information regarding private and public health facilities available nearest to them, further giving description regarding the kind of medical services, specialities available and the cost of these facilities. She informed that by using this portal, any Punjab state resident can search the health facilities – public, private or charitable and accordingly identify where best they can access health care based on location (viewed also on a map), services offered, costs, and ratings made by other citizens. Ratings of health facilities and feedback can also be made on a rating scale of 1-5 points. The registration by any private health facility on this portal is completely voluntary, whereas for govt. health facilities, it is mandatory.
Ms. Vini Mahajan further added that citizens can also view the details of doctors and their specializations present in a particular health facility on this portal. This initiative was announced by Punjab state during the ‘National Health Summit on Sustainable Development Goals & Universal Health Coverage’ held in November 2016 at Mohali. As of now, 700 public and 350 private healthcare facilities are already registered with the Portal and these hospitals have entered their details. State is making further efforts to achieve 100% coverage at the earliest.
