Ferozepur, August 30, 2019: The health department has proved to be a catalyst in providing relief to flood-hit villages of the district as 745 patients from flood-affected villages of Makhu Tehsil have been examined by the department in last ten days besides providing on spot medicines to the needy ones.

Divulging more, civil surgeon Ferozepur Dr.Hari Narayan said that 17 medical checks up camps have been organized by CMC Makhu since August 19, the first day when floods hit the villages situated on the banks of River Sutlej.

Dr.Narayan further added that it was the prime concern of the department to serve a large number of people to keep them safe from various water-borne diseases.

The civil surgeon said that all these camps have been organized by the SMO Dr.Sandeep Gill, who herself ensuring the healthcare services in the flood-hit villages of Makhu.

However, the civil surgeon said that he is also randomly inspecting the camps being organized every day.

The camps have been organized at village Mehmoodwala, Bhupewali, Khanna Bandh, Warra Kali raon, Laluwala, Tarewala Bandh, Manu Machi, Tibbi Rahga, Ruknewala, Aarji Sabran, Aalewala Bandh, Mahlewala Bandh, Darewala, Gattewala and Jamalewala village, where 745 patients have been diagnosed with diarrhea, fever, Gastro and skin related problems and on spot treatment was provided to them besides giving requisite medicines, said the civil surgeon.

The civil surgeon said that a team 41 health officials and employees consisting of 5 doctors, 32 multipurpose health workers, 4 sanitary inspectors, seven pharmacists, and pharmacy staff has been exclusively assigned at the service of flood-ravaged people in Makhu area and mobile teams are working 24×7 to handle any kind of emergency cases that can arise any time.

He added that the health department will leave no stone unturned to cater to these villages in this hour of crisis.

The state government has already directed the department to dedicate all the resources at the service of humanity in such desperate time, said the civil surgeon and added that the health department has an important role to play especially in the post-flood action plan, which is being implemented by senior officers diligently.
