Ludhiana, May 2, 2015: The District Administration has distributed plastic sheets and other material to inhabitants of 59 shanties which were gutted in fire on Thursday. The district health authorities have also provided medical aid to one of the injured lady, who had suffered minor burn injuries in this incident.

Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal has also appreciated the efforts of SDM (East) Paramjit Singh, fire brigade, and other district administration officials who remained present on the spot till the time the situation was brought under control.

SDM (East) Paramjit Singh informed that immediately after they came to know about the fire incident, he personally rushed to the spot and remained stationed there till the time the flames were doused. He informed that on Thursday, Naib Tehsildar Harminder Singh was deputed on the spot, who made sure the inhabitants of 59 shanties were provided water, food and other basic necessities.

Yesterday again Naib Tehsildar Parveen Goyal was deputed on the spot who distributed plastic sheets, bamboo poles, clothes, fruits, food, besides other such things to the victims. The SDM further informed that the District Administration would prepare a report regarding this incident, which would be forwarded to the Punjab government so that the victims are duly compensated.

A mobile medical team was also stationed on the spot and an 18-year-old girl named Manita was shifted to Civil hospital for treatment. The doctors at Civil Hospital informed that Manita has suffered minor burn injuries on her arms and is out of danger.

Area residents thanked the District Administration for providing timely help to them. Mangal Ram, an area resident informed that the fire started from one side and within minutes, it engulfed all 59 shanties in the area. He informed that had fire brigade not reached the spot on time, the fire would have damaged nearby buildings too.
