Ludhiana, October 25, 2017: Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal today stated that the hassle free paddy procurement process is going on full swing in district Ludhiana as elaborate arrangements have been made for a smooth procurement. 96 percent of total arrival of paddy has been purchased till October 24. Moreover, 100 percent lifting and 101 percent of total payments have also been made so far.
He informed that out of 728538 MT of total paddy arrivals in different mandis of the district, 697295 MT (96%) has been purchased and 548008 MT (100%) has already been lifted, while the remaining is in the process of getting lifted. He also informed that payments of around Rs 934.01 crore (101%) already been made to the farmers against the targets, which was Rs 920.27 crore till date.
He said that payments were being made to farmers through online system within stipulated 48 hours.
Out of the total arrivals in the district, PunGrain (Punjab Grains Procurement Corporation Ltd) has purchased 263635 MT, Markfed has purchased 139232 MT, Punsup has purchased 141443 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation has purchased 77739 MT, Punjab Agro has purchased 73992 MT, FCI 270 MT and privates have purchased 984 MT of paddy till yesterday evening.
He further informed that out of total stock lifted i.e. PunGrain has lifted 206230 MT, Markfed has lifted 109853 MT, Punsup has lifted 106147 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 63290 MT, Punjab Agro has lifted 61404 MT, FCI has lifted 100 MT and Privates has lifted 984 MT.
Mr Agrawal said that the Punjab government was determined to purchase and lift every grain of paddy from markets across the state and assured that the state government machinery was fully geared up for the smooth operation and payments would be made to the farmers within the time schedule fixed by the government of India.
He also directed all officers inspecting the mandis to make proper entries about their visit along with any discrepancies or suggestions in the registers kept in mandis. He also said that the farmers should not harvest their paddy crop at night time.
