Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Award to Dr Anurag Kuhad

Chandigarh May 10, 2017: A highly prestigious “Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Award” has been conferred on Dr Anurag Kuhad for displaying a high degree of innovation, creativity and scientific professionalism by making exemplary contribution in the field of Science and Technology by Haryana State Council for Science & Technology, Haryana Government, Panchkula. He is working as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr Kuhad was honored by Haryana Government at Haryana Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh on May 10, 2017 in a
special award ceremony. The award carries a cash award of Rs. One lakh, a citation and trophy as a token of appreciation and encouragement from Haryana State Council for Science & Technology. Dr Kuhad will continue his excellent work in the interest of Haryana and the Nation. .
Scientific Contribution
Dr Anurag Kuhad’s research interest is focused towards development of phytochemicals for management of diabetic complications like neuropathy, nephropathy and associated cognitive decline. The concept of “metabolic memory”, which means vascular stresses persist even after glucose normalization, has been supported in the laboratory. The major finding of the study is that insulin in combination with phytochemicals (curcumin, sesamol & epigallocatechin gallate) prevent incidence of secondary diabetic complications by switching off Metabolic Memory in diabetic rats.
Dr Kuhad published good number of research paper & review articles in most prestigious, peer-reviewed and high impact value International Journals. As per Google scholar, his research work has h-index 265 with 2326 citations.
Dr Kuhad awarded membership of prestigious Indian academies like National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), New Delhi & National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Allahabad. Dr Kuhad has been a recipient of various prestigious international
recognitions as Rafaelsen Young Investigators Award 2012 at CINP, Stockholm, Sweden, International Association for Study on Pain (IASP) Travel Award, International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) Travel Award, IBRO Young Investigator Training
Fellowship and Young Investigator Award at ICPH-2007, Japan & ICPH 2009, England. He is recipient of “AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers (CAYT) 2013-14” by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and UGC Research Award 2016-2018 from UGC, New Delhi. He was conferred with Professor K. K. Nanda Gold Medal for PhD Research Work by Department of Botany, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr Kuhad is Program Coordinator of DST Inspire Internship Program at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Dr Kuhad received research grant under UGC Start-up Grant for Newly Recruited Faculty by UGC, New Delhi, Fast Track Project from DST, New Delhi, AICTE Career Award by AICTE, New Delhi and Department of Health Research, ICMR, New Delhi.
Dr Kuhad is a B. Pharm (2002) Gold Medalist from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar. Dr Anurag has completed his M. Pharm (Pharmacology-2004) & Ph.D (Pharmacology-2010) under the esteemed mentorship of Professor
Kanwaljit Chopra, Professor of Pharmacology at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr Kuhad has an industrial experience of 2.5 years at Ranbaxy Research Laboratories Ltd. Gurgaon as a Research
Scientist in the area of New Drug Discovery Research.
