New Delhi/Jalandhar, September12, 2013: Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that as a result of the steps taken by his government for the promotion of education, the State would emerge as an education hub of international level in the coming few years. It was only due to progressive polices of the state government that the dropout rate of students has reduced to two per cent.
Hooda was speaking on the foundation laying ceremony of Girls School of Surajmal Memorial Educational Society in village Daboda, Bahadurgarh in district Jhajjar today.
Lauding the role of Surajmal Memorial Educational Society,  Hooda said that the Society has a unique identity and in recognition of its outstanding contribution in the field of education, it had been honoured with Diamond Eye Award. After Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, now the Society had opened school in Haryana. While assuring cooperation of the State Government,  Hooda was of the view that the girl’s school, whose foundation stone has been laid today in the august presence of former Union Minister, Dr. Balram Jakhar would prove a milestone in the development of the area.
Hooda said that quality education is pivotal for ensuring a bright future to the children. Today, only that society, state or country would remain ahead, which would lead in education. Due to the efforts made by the State Government during the last eight-and-a-half years, the number of universities in the State has increased to 36 and the number of Government Colleges has gone up to 95. Out of these colleges, 22 were exclusively for girls students.

Hooda said that the State Government is laying special emphasis on the education of girls as educating the girls would educate the entire society. He said that a Women University has been set up at Khanpur Kalan in Sonipat, which is the first such University of Northern India in government sector. Apart from this, Rajiv Gandhi Education City was being set up in Sonipat, where educational institutes of international repute would set up their campuses and about 1.5 lakh students would get education at a time. Similarly, the intake capacity in the technical education institutes in the State has been raised by 1.21 lakh. Now, the students of the States would not have to go to other states for education.

Earlier, while welcoming  Balram Jakhar,  Hooda said that when  Jakhar was Agriculture Minister at the Centre, various schemes had been started for the welfare of the farmers. He said that the Working Group, which has been constituted by Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh under his ( Hooda) Chairmanship to ensure stable income to the farmers, had submitted its report to the Central Government. It was suggested in the report that farmers should get 1.5 times of the cost of production. Apart from this, the rate of interest on short term loans should not be more than four per cent. . Hooda said that he was honestly discharging his responsibility, which has been assigned by people to him.

On this occasion, Hooda announced to give Rs 21 lakh to the Surajmal Memorial Educational Society and Rs 50 lakh for the development of village Daboda.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Balram Jakhar said that Ch. Ranbir Singh Hooda, father of Bhupinder Singh Hooda was his political mentor and whatever work he (Dr. Jakhar) used to do, he took advice from Ch. Ranbir Singh Hooda. He said that now Hooda was also following the footsteps of his father and giving inspiration to MP Deepender Singh Hooda.
MP Deepender Singh Hooda congratulated the Society on the laying of the foundation stone of girl’s school. He said that during the tenure of present State Government, education system has been improved considerably. New colleges, universities, technical institutes and medical colleges have been set up in the state.
On this occasion,  Deepender Singh Hooda announced to give Rs 11 lakh to the Surajmal Memorial Educational Society.
