Haryana Government redefines eligibility criteria for reservation of sports persons in government jobs

Chandigarh, April 6, 2018: Haryana Government has redefined the eligibility criteria for reservation of sports persons in government jobs and now the reservation for Outstanding Sports Persons will be termed as reservation for Eligible Sports Persons. The quantum of reservation in direct recruitment in Group A, B and C will continue to be three per cent and it will be 10 per cent in respect of Group D posts.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that eligibility to apply for a job reserved for sportspersons in any of Group A, B, C or D advertised posts has also been re-defined and the tournaments have been categorized in order to determine the eligibility of a sportsperson.
He said that to apply for Group A post, the sportsperson should have participated in Olympics or 4-year World Championship. A medal winner in any Olympic Games such as Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, other World or International Championship, World University Games and Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship can apply for reservation in Group A posts. Similarly, a medal winner in non-Olympic games like Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games or Commonwealth Games will be eligible to apply for Group A post in reserved category.
He said that for Group B, the sportsperson should have participated in any of the games like Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, other World or International Championship, World University Games and Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship. A medal winner in Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, other World or International Championship, World University Games, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship, SAF Games, International or domestic Cricket Test or one day, can also apply for reservation in Group B posts.
For Group C, the sportsperson should have participated in any of the games like Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth games, Other World or International Championship, World University Games, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship, SAF Games and International or domestic Cricket Test, one day. A medal winner in Olympic games like Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth games, World University games, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship, SAF Games, International or domestic Cricket Test, one day, National Games and National Championship can also apply for reservation in Group C posts. Similarly, a medal winner in non Olympic games like Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World University Games, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship, SAF Games and International or Domestic Cricket Test, one day, can also apply for reservation in Group C posts.
For Group D, the sportsperson should have participated in Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth games, other World or international Championship, World University games, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship, World University Games, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship, SAF Games, International or domestic Cricket Test, one day, National Games and National Championship. A medal winner in Olympics games like Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth games, other World or International Championship, World University games, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship, SAF Games, International or Domestic Cricket Test, one day and National Games, National Championship can also apply for reservation in Group C posts. Similarly, a medal winner in non Olympics games like Olympics, 4-year World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth games, World University games, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship, SAF Games, International or domestic Cricket Test, one day, National Games, National Championship, National School Games/All India Inter University Games/All India Women Sports/All India Civil Services/ All India Police/All India Rural Sports or State Games/State Women Sports/State School/State Rural and Panchayats/State Inter-University can also apply for reservation in Group D posts.
In case of a team game, the candidate should be or have been an active player of the team, that is, he should have played in not less than 25 per cent of the games in the tournament. A reserve player in one or more particular games will not be considered an active player in that game.
An eligible sportsperson must seek an appropriate gradation certificate from the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs for the purpose of applying for any Group A, B, C or D post.
The Tournaments are categories as such Olympics organized by International Olympics Committee as category 1, 4-year world championship organized by International Federation of the concerned game, recognized by the International Olympic Committee as category 2, Asian Games organized by Olympic Council of Asia as category 3, Commonwealth games organized by Commonwealth Games Federation as category 4, Other World or International Championship organized by International Federation of concerned game, recognized by International Olympic Committee as category 5, World University Games organized by International University Sports Federation as category 6, Other Asian or Commonwealth Championship organized by Asian Federation of the concerned game, affiliated to the Olympic Council of Asia or International Federation or Commonwealth Games Federation as category 7, SAF Games organized by South Asian Games Federation as category 8, International or Domestic Cricket Test, one day Test organized by ICC or BCCI as category 9, National Games organized by Indian Olympic Association as category 10, National Championship organized by National Federation Affiliated to IOA, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs (GOI) as category 11, National School Games/All India Inter University Games/All India Women Sports/All India Civil Services/All India Police/All India Rural Sports organised by School Games Federation of India/AIU/Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs (GOI) as category 12. State Games/State Women Sports/State School/State Rural & Panchayats/State Inter-University organized by Haryana State Associations recognized by the concerned National Federation affiliated to IOA/Department of Sports & Youth Affairs (Haryana) as category 13.
