Haryana Government and Samsung India entered into an agreement

Chandigarh, January 12, 2016: The Haryana Government and Samsung India today entered into an agreement to provide modern high tech Ultrasound Machine, Digital Radiology and accessories costing about Rs 1.25 crore to Citizen Hospital Gurgaon. Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner, Mr.T.L.Satyapraksh signed the MoU on behalf of the Haryana Government while Vice President of Samsung India, Mr.Rajiv Mishra signed on behalf of the company.
          The MoU signing ceremony was performed in the main Citizen Hospital Gurgaon. Addressing the media persons on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. T. L. Satyaprakash said that the Samsung India Multi National Company has come voluntarily to donate modern hi-tech machines to Citizen Hospital Gurgaon under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He said that this is the first step in the direction of relationship between Haryana Government and Samsung India MNC. At the same time, he exhorted other MNCs also to come forward to contribute in health care facilities under their CSR, as the state government is promoting CSR primarily in health care and education sectors.
          Mr. Satyaprakash said, “We constantly seek ways to offer affordable health care facilities for more people in and around Gurgaon. Given the large volume of patients at our government hospitals, we welcome support from companies such as Samsung in helping hospitals cater to the locals’ need for quality health care. As the healthcare has become costly, it is important that more and more firms contribute under this policy so that a common man does not suffer for lack of paying capacity.” He further added that the state government has formulated a policy to create a platform where all such organizations who want to donate for health care facilities under CSR provisions and this MoU is done under the aegis of the same arrangement. Samsung is the first such organization to contributefor healthcare facilities in Gurgaon for this year. The MoU is done as per the provisions of the policy enunciated by the Government.
          Vice President of Samsung India, Mr. Rajiv Mishra said that Samsung strives to promote social development through its various corporate citizenship initiatives. With facilities such as ultrasound, digital radiology and accessories, the Samsung’s Smart Healthcare initiative will allow for an advanced medical examination which will improve the lives of many patients who find quality healthcare inaccessible. He thanked the Gurgaon authorities for their support in establishing the initiative at the Citizen Hospital Gurgaon. Replying to a question, he said that today’s initiative is first in Haryana and fourth in India. Samsung has already started healthcare initiatives in Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore and it plans to start its 5th initiative in Delhi.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr. V. P. Singh, Civil Surgeon, Dr. Ramesh Dhankhar, PMO, Dr. Kanta, Deputy Civil Surgeon, Dr. Neelam Thapar, District Dental Surgeon, Dr. Pawan, SMO, Dr. Brahmdeep Sandhu, Dr. Manish Rathi were also present alongwith officials of Samsung India. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
