Chandigarh, March 10, 2015: Gurukul Vidyapeeth and Shri Shanti Sarup Sharma Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust(S-4 Trust) today honored 18 prominent women personalities from different walks of life with the International Women’s Day Awards 2015 for their outstanding contribution to the society as part of the International Woman’s Day celebrations.
Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Kavita Jain and Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh Poonam Sharma felicitated the women achievers comprising bureaucrats, educationists, doctors, artists, dancers, singers, social activists and entrepreneurs.
In her welcome address, Rinku Kalia, winner of Zee TV’s highest-rated musical show Sa Re Ga Ma and founder-trustee of the S-4 Trust, said the main objective of the institution of the awards was to recognise the exceptional achievements of those eminent woman, who had carved a niche for themselves in the society.
Manmohan Garg, CEO of Gurukul Vidyapeeth, said that an ambitious project Beti Padhao Yojana aimed at providing education to the girl students, especially from poorer strata of society, was also launched today. Both Kavita Jain and Poonam Sharma lauded the initiatives of Gurukul Vidyapeeth and S-4 Trust for the women empowerment.
