Guest Lecture by Entrepreneur Development Cell

Jalandhar, January 17, 2015: Entrepreneur Development Cell of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a Guest Lecture on "Bridging the Gap between Academia and Industry", in which Amit Chadha, an Engineering and Management graduate with more than 20 years of experience in the Corporate sector, enlightened the students and staff about the skills which enhanced employability. Citing the latest data quoted in Times of India, which stated that out of the 3,50,000 MBAs in a year only 10% were considered employable, he stressed on the need to bridge the lacuna which was created between the institutional training and the requirements of the industry. The president of Jalandhar Management Association, Insan-ul-haq and Sudhir Gera, Director, Kirloskar Generators were the other two resource persons who stressed on the need for Skills Development, which are important elements in being considered employable. They have pioneered the idea of Linking School which would help to develop the skills of the students such as attitude & ability, domain knowledge, ethical behaviour, operational knowledge etc. which would make them promising leaders as well as candidates for the corporate world. This Linking School would act as a bridge between the Academia and Industry. The lectures by the resource persons were very well received by the audience comprising students and staff of various streams.
