Greenwood High student shines at the All India Feeder Tour Golf tournament at Kolkata

Bengaluru, November 3, 2016: Ms.Avani Prashanth, 4th grade student at Greenwood High had qualified to represent the South Zone Junior Golf in the All India Feeder Tour Golf tournament which was held at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata recently. The tournament was conducted under the auspices of Indian Golf Union and top 3 Girls from Each Zone participated in the tournament.

Avani was one of the youngest competitors at the tournament and finished at the top of the leaderboard along with Jiah Kataria of North Zone. Avani played very consistently and made scores of 5 over and 6 over in round 1 and round 2 respectively to finish with a top score of 155. Avani finished second in the playoff.

Avani earlier had Top 2 finishes in the Girls under 9 category at the US Kids European Golf Championship held in Scotland in May 2016.She also had top 5 finishes at the US Kids Golf World Championship at Pinehurst North Carolina in 2014,2015 and 2016 in Girls 7 and under, Girls 8 and Girls 9 respectively. She has been one of the best performing Indian’s at these tournaments for the last 3 years. Avani was also the order of merit winner in E category for winning all the tournaments she played in South Zone Junior Golf for 2015.

“We focus on providing a conducive atmosphere to our students to hone their talents and interests. Students excel when they have credible support and we ensure that it is made available to them through ample facilities and training. We’ve seen students out-do themselves before when given the right support. We will continue extending all the support to allow more talents like these to come forward”, said Niru Agarwal, Trustee, Greenwood High.
