Hyderabad, August 27, 2019: Grand Masters Savchenko Boris from Russia and Tukhaev Adam from Ukraine, IM Khusenkhojaev Muhammed from Tajikistan emerged top three players at Tetrasoft’s 1st Grandmaster Chess Open Tournament 2019. In a closing and prize distribution ceremony held today afternoon at Hotel Marriott, A. Venkateshwar Reddy, Chairman and A. Dinakar Babu, IAS, Vice Chairman of Sports Authority Telangana State; R Srinivas Rao (RSR), Chief Operating Officer (COO) of HYSEA; Surya, CTO of Tetrasoft gave away Trophies and Cash Prizes. Savchenko Boris stood first in the tournament with eight points and awarded cash prize of 2.5 lakhs; Tukhaev Adam, emerged second with eight points and won Rs 2 lakh cash prize. International Master Khusenkhojaev Muhammed from Tajikistan secures 7.5 points and stood in third place. Besides Trophy, he was given away Rs 2 lakh cash prize. Three Telangana players emerged under top twenty five. They include Raja Rithvik R securing 7 points stood at tenth place. He was given a cash prize of 12,000/-. He will be hence forth a Grand Master. He joins the elite club of Five Grand Masters —Harikrishna, Harika, Arjun Erigaisi, Karthik Venkataraman, Harsha Bharathakoti from Telangana. He will be the six Grand Master from Telangana informed the organisers. Another Telangana player Khushagra Mohan with 7 points stood at 14th place and won Rs 12000/- as a prize. J. Ramakrishna, a banker from Andhra Bank from Telangana stood at 19th place and secured 7 points. He was presented a cash prize of Rs 10,000/-. Chetan Sharma declared as best player from Andhra Pradesh, Sarath Chandra K as best player from Telangana. They were presented a cash prize of Rs 7,500/- informed Shrikanth Sharma, of Tetrasoft. The first ever Grandmaster Chess Open Tournament 2019 organised in Telangana State was hosted by Tetrasoft, an emerging global information technology and consulting services company. The tournament attracted 160 players including 45 from Telangana and 22 international players from 11 countries shared Shrikanth M of Tetrasoft. Speaking on the occasion Surya, CTO of Tetrasoft said the company encourages sports. The sport Chess has link to our business as we are a global digital services company. IT and Chess are a brain work and brain game. So there is a lot of synergy between these tow. We have arranged the highest total prize money 12 lakhs and that too hosted in a fiver star hotel to give good facilities to the players, he shared and added that Tetrasoft will also organise the event next year in bigger scale inviting more foreign players from more number of countries. Venkateshwar Reddy appealed that more IT companies come forward to sponsor sports. Telangana is the most happening in Sports. It has given 30 to 40 players of various games to represent India. He appealed to Tetrasoft to organise one big game between Gary Kasparov and Vishwanath Anand at Hyderabad. Srinivas Rao said IT and Chess has greater synergy. Machines will defeat humans one day. But, I hope that humans stay one step ahead of machines. Dinakar Babu said Chess is a IQ game. Hyderabad is the hub for Badminton, Tennis, Water Sports, Wrestling, Boxing, shooting. More and more young players are getting into it. He appealed to corporates to adopt few players in each category to develop sports in the state. Chess can help us get more recognition for our state, he told. On the whole 39 prizes were given away in the tournament valuing Rs 12 lakhs.
