Kila Raipur/Ludhiana, February 4, 2018: The Grand Finale of the 82nd MRF Kila Raipur Sports Festival witnessed amazing turnout with the stadium bursting at its seams. Such was the enthusiasm of the audience that each time they cheered the veterans running 100 meters, Kabaddi teams or the girls striving to win the 400 meters, the cheer could be heard to a distance from the stadium.

Athelitics, hockey, Kabaddi, MRF Tractor Tyre, Elephement and Camal race were the top competitive sports played today.

Baazigars and Nihangs definitely added to the fervor as they showcased amazing feats. Participation from Phillaur Police academy and Handicapped performer, were a treat to watch.

Sr Manpreet Singh Badal, Minister of Finance, Govt of Punjab, encouraged the participants and organizers. He mentioned the importance of tradition and culture in the state and country. Supporting the cause he announced a grant of Rs 15 lac towards Kila Raipur Sports Festival and 10 Lac for develop the city Total Amt is 25 Lac .

The MRF Tractor tyre rolling event, a brand new event had its first winner in Mohd Murid, who took home the top honors and a MRF tyre.

Another event, which was started to give the hard working Palledars (the laborers who work at grain markets and godowns) to show their amazing talent of loading and unloading trolleys, has become one of the main event of these games. In the final of the Tractors Trolley Loading and Unloading competition, the team from Snaam (B) beat Sangrur (A) in a tense final.

Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu local body ministers,Sadhu Singh Dharam Sod Forest Minister was the chief guest today showed great interest in the sports activities. He reiterated the commitment to take the message of the festival places and provide better infrastructure to help people in Kila Raipur and around enjoy the Festival at a larger scale. He also promised to make all efforts to get the Bullock Cart races back, by bringing a bill to the state body in the next session. Navjot Sidhu announced Rs 10 lac to the Grewal Sports Association, the organisers of the 82nd MRF Kila Raipur Sports Festival, 2018.

MRF and Maruti Suzuki have continued their association with this unique event. These brands have become household names and the strength of association has helped them grow their business. Sharechat, the fisrt ever Social Media partner, have taken it upto itself, to popularize the game to audience far and wide and connect the millennials to the games.

The Grewal Sports Association also gives an opportunity to the differently abled athletes to shine. In the 100 meters race for physically disabled saw roaring support for the participants. Sukha from Kila Raipur finished the race ahead of Naresh Kumar form Ludhiana and Pramod Kumar of Ludhiana.

In Hockey Hans Kala defeated Romi Two goals to Zero (2:0), to lift the Bhagwant Memorial Gold Cup.

In High Jump Final for Men Lovepreet Singh Patiala clocked 1.95 M to leave Tanveer Singh Ludhiana and Sewak Singh from Khanna behind

In the High Jump Final for Women Jyoti of Jalandhar jumped to beat Ritu from Patiala and Arshdeep from Ludhiana .

In Sprints 200 meters Men Arshdeep Singh from Patiala got the better of Jagmit Singh from Jalandhar and Raghuvir Singh from Jalandhar even as Virpal Kaur from Bhai Rupa kept her super performance for the 3rd day beating Prachi (Patiala) and Jaspreet Kaur (Bhai Rupa) in the womend 200 meter

800 meters final Women saw Virpal of Bhai Rupa breasting the tape beating Twinkal of Jalandhar and Prachi of Patiala. In the Mens 800 meter Arshdeep Singh of Patiala finished in the top position leading the race from the beginning to beat Jagmit Singh from Jalandhar and Jagdev Singh form Khanna .
