Governor stresses for quality education to students

Shimla, May 22, 2017: Governor Acharya Devvrat stressed upon need for quality education based on moral values and added that good education was a blend of knowledge and values necessary for a good life. It was the responsibility of educational institutions to impart moral values and quality education to the students for better future of the country.

The Governor was speaking on the occasion of Prize Distribution Function of Dr. Vijay Memorial Senior Secondary School, Dharampur in district Mandi, today.

He lauded Sai Foundation for providing better infrastructure to students and also undertaking social activities in the area. He said that growth of an individual depended upon strong will and power full thoughts developed over the years right from school level. He added virtuous students and reputed educational institutions were the pillars of development of a nation. The society based on moral values led to all round growth of each member of the society. He urged social organizations to help poor and down trodden by providing them best education.

He said equal opportunities should be given to everyone irrespective of gender, caste or creed. He said people should be involved in protection of environment by creating awareness amongst them.

The Governor also gave away prizes to meritorious students of various schools. He also distributed tool kits to pass out students from ITI.

Earlier, the Governor inaugurated hostel building of Dr. Vijay Memorial Sr. Secondary school and laid foundation stone of Saraswati Vidya Mandir building. He also inaugurated health camp and blood donation camp.

Shri Anurag Thakur, MP welcomed the Governor and thanked him for initiating various socially oriented programmes like cleanliness, anti drug campaign, value based education, natural farming, cow rearing etc. in the state. He also appreciated the contribution of Sai Foundation in social sector and also counted development works of Central Government.

Shri Mahender Singh, local MLA also welcomed the Governor and said that various development works had been done in the area but still people of the area were facing problem of shortage of water and irrigation facility. On the occasion, Shri Raj Kumar Verma, Chairman, Sai Engineering Foundation welcomed the Governor and briefed out various activities of the organization for the upliftment and welfare of the society.

Shri D.K. Sharma, Chairman, Himalayan Centre for Resources Development, Dharampur proposed vote of thanks.

Students of Dr.Vijay Memorial Foundation also performed yoga exercise and cultural programme on the occasion.

Shri Hem Chandra, Rashtriya Mantri, Vidya Mandir, Prof. Shyam Sunder, Chairman, Satya Sai Organization and other prominent people of the area were also present on the occasion.
